Dance Sessions
-Because you are a work of art-
I love dance sessions!
All dancers are artists- using their bodies, their expression, the little nuances in their movement to tell a story. I am energized by their creativity and the passion that stretches through every extension of their arms and legs. All dancers are athletes- full of strength, focus, and determination. I am awestruck by the muscle control, the endurance, and the power dance requires.
Dance sessions are as much about creating images of the story a dancer tells with the body as they are about telling the story of the dancer. I want to ignite the passion inside the dancer and capture the beauty and elegance in the movement they use to speak. But, I don't want to stop there. I want to bring focus to the dancer- to leap in to the raw, gritty determination that puts the body into motion.

The Details
When shooting on location, I recommend having a pair of old pointe shoes to wear as the silk on the shoe can get really dirty.
Dancers should also bring shoes or socks that can be easily put on over their dance shoes as we move around the location.
I recommend arriving early and warming up for at least 15 minutes before the session begins.
Before the session, I will ask the dancer and the dancer's family to send me any photos/poses they are inspired by and try to use these as a reference during our session.
When thinking about poses for your session, try to select a few basic poses that are fundamental, easy to hold, and show off your lines. I have found that although these poses don't always make a dancer's Pinterest board of inspiration, they are often the photos dancers and their families love the best.
I am always happy to include props in the session. Please notify me beforehand of any large props you may want to include so I can be sure to plan the best way to incorporate it based on the location of the shoot.
Group sessions are also available and can be booked after a consultation. The length of the session, number of outfit changes, and pricing will be based upon information collected during the consultation and on the group size.
Additional fees may apply to individual sessions depending on travel time to the selected location.
